Road data used in Road Sign Hero

Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL) 1.0.

The levels of the Road Sign Hero iOS game are built from map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License. See openstreetmap.org/copyright. We publish the road data we extracted and changed for each level under the same licence, so anyone can use, share and adapt it under the ODbL, including the duty to credit OpenStreetMap contributors and to share changes under the same licence.

Download

roadsignhero-levels.zip: one JSON file per level, with LICENSE-ODbL.txt, ATTRIBUTION.txt and README.txt. Licence: ODbL 1.0.

What is in it

For every level: the route and its lanes, road edge widths, speed limits, signals, signs, crossings, nearby roads and buildings, as JSON. Coordinates are metres on a local plane; the origin is given in each file.

What we changed

  • We cut each route to a stretch a car can drive, and smoothed corners and lane widths so the game car fits.
  • We thinned points and tapered width changes.
  • We added elevation from USGS 3DEP (public domain).
  • Where OpenStreetMap has no tag, we placed signs and signals by MUTCD rules. Added items are marked in each file's flags.

What is not included

The app's code, rule texts, sign pictures, cars and music are not part of this database and have their own terms.

Found a mistake in the map?

Fix it in OpenStreetMap itself. We extract the data again on each release.
